I passed by a ba kwa shop the other day, drawn by fragrance of the bbq pork. Hence, bought 1/2 a kg for my family. Its been 3 days & seems like its not moving fast.
I decided to make a snack with it. Remembered i once ate a ba kwa pie somewhere in bugis junction few yrs back. It's ba kwa being sandwiched in between 2 layers of puff pastry. I wanna make something like that concept, but used shortcrust pastry instead, for a heavier texture.
Ingredients;
1 portion shortcrust pastry
1 egg for glazing
Ba kwa slices (BBQ pork)
Some roasted sesame seeds
Method;
-Dust pastry board & rolling pin with some flour, roll out shortcrust pastry.
-Cut into rectangle shape, wrap with ba kwa slices.
-Glaze with egg wash, sprinkle with roasted sesame seeds.
-Bake at 200 degree celcius for 12-15mins until golden brown.
-Enjoy!
Shortcrust pastry;
100g flour
Pinch of salt
50g unsalted butter
2-3 tbsp cold water
Method for shortcrust;
-Sift flour & salt together.
-Cut fats into small pieces, rub fats into flour until resembles breadcrumbs.
-Sprinkle cold water into mixture to form soft dough.
-Knead dough lightly.
