Yam Abacus Seeds

As promised in my pummkin abacus seeds post previously, i will be cooking the original hakka yam abacus seeds soon & i managed to fulfil my promise today.
Yam Abacus Seeds is a traditional Hakka dish & it is very popular in Singapore. It can oso be found in some hawker center.

Ingredients;
Cooked yam abacus seeds
Dried shrimps, soaked
Minced meat
Mushroom slices
Carrots
Celery
Shallots slices
Minced garlic
Fried shallots
Garnishes

Sauce;
Oyster sauce
Light soy sauce
1-2 drops dark soy sauce for colouring
Pinch of salt
Dashes of pepper
1-2 tbsp stock/ dried shrimp water

Method;
-Fry shallots till fragrant, stir in garlic & dried shrimps. Fry till fragrant.
-Add in minced meat, carrots, mushrooms & celery. Fry for 1-2 mins.
-Add abacus seeds & sauce.
-Mix well, garnish & serve.
-Enjoy!
Method for cooked abacus seeds;
-Peel yam, cut into slices & steamed on high heat.
-Mashed yam, mix well with salt, corriander powder & cornflour to form soft dough.
-Roll into tiny balls, flatten with knuckles.
-Bring to boil with few drops of oil, drained & soak in ince water till ready to cook.


Dad reali love the dishes & requested to have them for tomorrow's dinner. Oh well, shall see about it den. Depands on my mood cuz i still haf lots of dishes on my "cooking list" :-P
