Chill Out @ The Living Room ~Part II

Our 2nd time to chill out at The Living Room. Of all places in JB y Living room again? Well, the place is cosy, nice food & free wifi. It's totally different during weekends as compare to wat we come across during our 1st trip on a weekday.
Weekday it is normally quiet with onli a few customer. However, the place was totally packed despite being so late at nite. Probably the later the merrier :-P

Tako balls~ I simply love it & Tabby and i were spending the nite away debate on how tako balls were made.
Oh come on, they were made using special mould hotplate where the bateer were poured in, waiting till 1/2 cooked and add in ingredients. Turn & seal the balls, contine to cook till done. But Tab beg to differ, she instst those were frozen thus onli need to deep fried. Erm...so far i haven heard of frozen tako balls. Has anyone heard of it b4?

Fried onion rings

Choco Oreo & Ice blended mocha

My round 2 drink~Ice lemon tea

Tab had a lychee frapp but taste funny. Imagine lychee fruit blended with milk??? oh well, Tab refuse to admit that it taste funny, she put on a hard front and comment that she love to experience new funny food. haha....

Oh ya, we didn't managed to order chicken balls as another snack cuz we are too full. Oh well, KIV for next time round. We had a great chill out time and leaft the place after midnite, by time we reach Singapore was almost 2am in the morning! Cool ya!

Chill Out @ Liquid Kitchen~ Xiaoqi's 19th B'dae

I been in this company for almost a year and this is the 1st time we organize an "unofficial company event". Oh yeah, the bond among colleagues grew stronger after our incentive trip. Since Xiaoqi's b'day is round the corner, a small group of us decided to give her a surprise celebration.
Cynthia & Val were supposed to accompany Xiaoqi to the Liquid Kitchen for a drink while the rest of us bluff her that we were unable to join them. We went to buy a cake to surprise her, a group of us walked in with the cake and singing Happy Birthday song loudly, oh juz like those scenes that will happen in drama.

Birthday gal smiling sweetly with the cake. Surprise!

Cookies and Cream Cake

Erm... enough of warm up fun, time to order drink b4 we got chased out. haha...

Lychee Martini~ without lychee? where are they? oh well, in the gals's mouth. :-P

My all time favourite~Frozen Margarita

Tigers for the other ladies~so Singapore!

Say cheese! Snapping pic with Singapore's own brew tiger beer! Oh well, a tower!

Fruit punch for those who can't drink!

Crispy wedges! We ordered 3 baskets in total. So scary!

The youngest member in our chill out gang~2 years old Kristal. 1st time come across kid in a place for drinking. Lucky i called and ask b4 bring Kristal over. haha... She's so happy that nite. Reali enjoyed herself.

Oh so sweet of Kristal kissing mi goodbye. Dun worry, she's not drunk, juz feeling happy and excited. Last but not least, A Happy 19th Birthday to Xiaoqi.

Dinner @ Lerk Thai ~JB

Tabby & i "chiong" JB till late last nite. We were shopping in Tebrau City and since we have no idea what to have for dinner, decided to try out Lerk Thai. It was such a coincidence that it was both of our 1st time trying food from Lerk Thai. There are quite a few outlets in Singapore but sad to say that none of us ever tried. :-P

Lerk Thai menu

Green tea & sour plum juice

Phad thai~thai style flat rice noodles

Thai green curry~chicken & brinjal with green curry paste
Overall the food was not too bad, service is way below expectation & the price is quite costly for Malaysia price. Hmm.. dun think we will patronise that outlet again.

Giant Meat Pau

While i was bz preparing snacks for teabreak, Dad came home with surprises for us. I was told to open the box which he place on the table. Dad says that Uncle Hye purposely went all the way to Bedok this morning juz to purchase it.

Out of curiousity & kpo~ness, i opened the box and...................

My 1st reaction: WOW........

2nd reaction: even bigger than my fist!

3rd reaction: almost the length of a chopstick!

Prata Pockets with Sambal

Dad bought some dried shrimps from Malaysia. Hence, i decided to make some chili sambal. Cool, chili sambal is ideal to serve with many carbo or bread products. Singaporean loves it with bread. I decided to give it a slight twist.

Ingredients;
1 pc frozen prata
Some ready made sambal (hei bee hiam)

Method;
-Pan fry prata till lightly brown on both side.
-Cut prata into 4 triangles, peel open from the pointed end.
-Stuff with sambal, toast in sandwich maker till crispy & golden brown.
-Enjoy!

Spicy, crispy golden brown triangles for Dad's tea break!

Golden Sambal Mantou

Fried mantou can be eaten with savoury fillings or as a dessert for those with a sweet tooth. I've prepare sweet mantou with condensed milk ages ago, savoury ones to be serve with chili crab dips. This time round, sandwiched style as a great Sunday afternoon snack for Dad!

Ingredients;
Giant plain mantou
Oil for frying

Fillings;
Dried shrimp, pounded
Chili padi, chopped
Grind chili paste
Minced garlic
Pinch of salt
Some sugar
Oil for frying

Method;
-Fry garlic with oil till fragrant, add chili padi and fry for 5 mins.
-Stir in chili paste and dried shrimp.
-Fry till well mixed, season to taste.
-Continue to fry for 8 -10 mins over low heat till done.
-For the buns, cut mantou into half, run a slit along the center.
-Deep fried buns in boil till golden brown, sandwich with sambal.
-Serve & enjoy!

These sambal mantou taste much more better than sambal being sandwich with plain bread. Well, i guess it's due to the crispy fried layer on the mantou. :-)

Dinner at La Gourmet

I come across some random pic which somehow or rather reminded me that I forgot to upload & post the "makan" experience of mine.
Tabby & I were in JB the other nite & we wanna try something new. A restaurant which we have yet to patronize b4. We went rounds & rounds the are which we usually hang out in & finally decided to sit down at La Courmet.

Ooh, here is the menu!

We ordered a mushroom soup, erm not too bad but 1st time i come across western creamy soup with spring onion. haha...

I requested the shop tto blend a glass of green apple starfruit juice for mi.

Tab had an ice-blended mocha.

Fried Chicken Chop
~not too crispy, we find the taste so so only, not to our expectation.

Seafood Pasta with Crispy Dory
~we simply love this dish. The tangy tomato taste is just nice and the dory fish dun even have a fishy smell. GOOD! Lucky we found our way to this place.

双肠炒饭

双肠 doesn't mean the big & small intestines, but it is sausages. Our family loves sausages, be it Chinese version or the English version of hotdogs, these 2 can always be found in our home kitchen.
Since i was at home on a public holiday, wat else can i do other than spending time in the kitchen cooking? haha...

2 crabmeat sticks, diced

A quick & easy simple meal.

Vegetarian Congee With Pickles

Secret to cooking smooth congee is to ensure that oil is being added at the point where the rice grains began to break into smaller pieces. Adding sufficient water & oil to maintain smoothness of the congee is a MUST for cooking delicious congee.
I've used last nite's leftover cooked rice to cook congee for breakfast this morning.

Ingredients;
1 cup cooked rice
Vegatable stock or water
Some mushroom water (used from soaking the mushrooms)
Dried mushrooms soaked & cut into thin strips/diced
Salt
Oil

Garnishes;
Chopped pickles
Chopped scallions

Method;
-Bring stock or water to boil, add rice & boil till soft.
-When rice began to break into small grains, add oil & mushroom water.
-When it reaches a thick & smooth consistency, add mushrooms, reduce heat and simmer. Add more water or stock when necessary.
-Season with salt.
-Serve with pickles, soy from pickles & scallions.
-Enjoy!

Dinner @ BBQ Chicken

I was supposed to meet up with the emcee & belly dancers for the upcoming Deepavali party and since the meeting had to be delay slightly, Tab & i decided to drop by Rivervale Mall for Dinner. We ever tried BBQ Chicken in JB, but have yet to try Singapore's.

Even chili sauce & tomato ketchup are labeled under BBQ Chicken!

I had a ministrone soup.....

while tab ordered a creamy mushroom soup

our iced lemon tea

Chicken steak with mushroom sauce
~hmm... i feel the sauce a abit salty for me, however tabby feels that it's very yummy.

Creamy pasta with crispy chicken
~ooh... the cream sauce goes great with the crispy fried chicken. Hmm... if u guys wanna order this dish, its better to share with someone else. 1stly, too high in fats & calories, 2ndly, eating the whole serving will makes u stay away from cream sauce pasta for months as it's too rich & thick.

More cheese!!! haha... cheese powder & chili

Our dessert!

Reali put in effort to decorate the scoop of ice-cream with rainbows, chopped almonds, chocolate frosted cornflakes, choco pops & chocolate sauce. Worth commenting for the effort!

Erm... i dunno wat happened to their receipt machine but this is the very 1st time i come across receipt from a Restaurant which was being hand written! hmm... seems unprofessional ya!

Indian Chicken Soup

I visited Aunt Sarah yesterday to pass her some of her favourite red bean soup which mum cooked. She was bz baking all the goodies for Deepavali. Hmm... despite such a bz day, Aunt Sarah still has time to prepare chicken soup for Uncle David, since i was at their house, i was given a bowl to taste.
While drinking the soup, i can tell the soup contain ingredients will be funnel seeds, pepper , Chinese parsley, chicken feet etc...
After drinking soup i tried to find out bout the cooking method from Aunt Sarah. 1st she need to grind all the indian spices till powdery form, mix with some water to form paste. Prepare stock by boiling chicken feet & bone together, add paste & pepper. Lastly stir in chinese parsley. Heard that the soup is good for the body, especially when having a bad flu, it helps after drinking a bowl of it.
Probably i can use my creativity to come up with a different style of spicy chicken soup. :-P
