Fried mantou can be eaten with savoury fillings or as a dessert for those with a sweet tooth. I've prepare sweet mantou with condensed milk ages ago, savoury ones to be serve with chili crab dips. This time round, sandwiched style as a great Sunday afternoon snack for Dad!
Ingredients;
Giant plain mantou
Oil for frying
Fillings;
Dried shrimp, pounded
Chili padi, chopped
Grind chili paste
Minced garlic
Pinch of salt
Some sugar
Oil for frying
Method;
-Fry garlic with oil till fragrant, add chili padi and fry for 5 mins.
-Stir in chili paste and dried shrimp.
-Fry till well mixed, season to taste.
-Continue to fry for 8 -10 mins over low heat till done.
-For the buns, cut mantou into half, run a slit along the center.
-Deep fried buns in boil till golden brown, sandwich with sambal.
-Serve & enjoy!
These sambal mantou taste much more better than sambal being sandwich with plain bread. Well, i guess it's due to the crispy fried layer on the mantou. :-)

Whole fish tastes better when cooked on the bone; and whole fish,
especially when it is still swimming in the tank, is probably one of the
freshest!
