These cute little chiffons caught my attention when I passed by Cake History in TPY the other day. Can't resist temptation, i decided to give it a try!
Chocolate chip bread with green tea chiffon cake.
I simply love the combi of sweet fluffy red bean with the not so sweet matcha chiffon. Hmm... yummy~licious.
I have some leftover sauce from my braised pork-ribs and not wanting to waste, i suggested to dad using it to cook my a fish dish. To my surprise, the master who is 'pro' in cooking fish dishes asked me to do it myself and should the dishes turned out awful, I have to bear the full responsibility. Oops... a challenge for me! Lolz... heng ar, lucky the dish turn out yummy! Thumbs up!
Ingredients; 2 medium fish, (black promfet can be use) 1/2 cup stewed pork-ribs sauce 1 tbsp sweet bean paste Oyster sauce Shredded ginger Dark soy sauce Sugar Salt Water Oil for frying
Method; -Deep fried fish till crispy golden brown. Drained. -Fry ginger in oil till crispy and fragrant. -Add bean paste, fry for a min b4 adding sauce and water. -Bring to boil, add fish and cook till gravy thickens. -Garnish and serve. -Enjoy!
Mum was given a day off as it was Sunday, her self-declared off day. I love her assam cili paste which i will always request and serve with prawn crackers. Since she was off, i decided to prepare some son-in-law eggs with my style of assam sauce.
Ingredients; Hard boil eggs Cornflour Oil for frying
Method; -Soak assam paste with water and set aside. -Coat hard boil eggs with cornflour, deep fried till golden brown. Drained. -Halved the eggs and place onto serving dish. -Fry shallots in oil till lightly brown. -Add chili paste, assam juice and sugar. -Drizzle over eggs, sprinkle with scallions and sesame seeds. -Enjoy!
Spicy, sour & full of flavour are the main description i can think of at the moment coz i can wait to eat! haha...
Thinking of a new way to cook pork ribs rather than letting mum cook it the usual way - boil pork rib soup with sea cucumber. After a voting session, decided to cook 蜜汁排骨.
Water 1 tbsp homemade chili paste Roasted sesame seeds
Method; -Combine the 1st 6 ingredients together, marinate for at least 3 hrs. -Pour marinate into pot with some water, bring to boil. -Add ribs and, bring to full boil and simmer till meat soften. -Blast till gravy thickens. -Sprinkle with sesame seeds and enjoy!
Orange peel with hot red bean soup seems like obasan's favourite. How come today i have the crave for it?! These 2 makes a special combination coz juz by having red bean soup is simply too sweet and dull whereas the preserved orange peel is too strong in taste. Hence, by diluting the preserved peel is dessert is great. Try it out...
Ingredients; Red beans, soaked Pandan leaves, knotted Rock sugar Hot boiling water Preserved orange peel
Method; -Pour boiling water over red beans, boil till red beans soften. -Add pandan leaves and rock sugar. -Serve with preserved orange peel. -Enjoy!
I been super bz these few weeks and rarely have the time to catch up with aunty sarah and uncle david. It's so nice of aunty to pop y to ask about my concern and specially made some tau pok goreng where she got the recipe from her sis.
Here's the unique version of tau pok goreng by aunty and she shared with me her method in preparing the sauce.

Method; -Fry grind shallots and chili till lightly browned -Add gula melaka and water. -Bring to boil, dissolve prawn paste. -Add lime juice and toss in pounded peanuts. -Drizzle over stuffed tau pok and serve. -Enjoy!
Had a sudden crave for Taiwanese sausages and the last time I had it was super long ago even I can't remember when was that.
Method; -Cut some slits on the taiwanese sausages. -Grill on a non-stick frying pan till almost cook. -Brush with chili oil and glaze with home made chili paste. -Sprinkle with roasted sesame seeds and enjoy!
I was so tempted to buy these cute little flat pandan chiffon when I come across them at the bakery shop. Aren't they cute? Flat like discus, wonder how they taste like?!
Ended up buying as i couldn't resist temptation.
The bottom part is lightly browned, juz like any other chiffon cakes.

Been wanting to try the 'Baoning Vinegar' which dad brought home days ago. Can't decided between black vinegar trotter or mee sua to test the vinegar, and after much consideration, decided to go for something which is lower in cholesterol. Lolz... shall set aside the idea for another dish until a later date.

Not wanting to waste a a pack of left over nasi lemak from breakfast, i decided to come up with a creative way of serving the nasi lemak in a fried rice style.
Easy and simple procedures; -Pan fry the fried ingredients and set aside. -Fry coconut rice with 2 tsp of sambal chili. -Serve with cucumber slices and enjoy!
Squid or sotong has never been my favourite 1stly, high in cholesterol, 2ndly I dun like the overcooked 'eraser' texture! haha... Dunno what come over me as I have a sudden crave for spicy sambal squid. Oh, it muz be after the dinner on Father's Day! Lolz...
Ingredients; 300g small squid, blanched and soak in ice-cubes 1 large onion, slice 2 stalks green onions, cut into section of 3cm length 2 chili padi, cut into strips Oil for frying
Sauce; 2 tsp home-made chili paste 1 tsp grind chili sauce 1 tsp tomato ketchup 1 tbsp water Salt Sugar

Yesterday was suppose to be mum's off day where I does all the cooking for our family. As i need to work yesterday, mum had no choice but to settle dinner menu on her own. She's fretting and when i came to know bout it, at a snap of fingers, I came up with a few menu and told her the cooking method and procedure. Mum didn't say anything and laugh. I ask her what's wrong? She told me that she's not so hardworking and prefer to cook something simple.
Among the few dishes where I mentioned, here's 1 of the tofu dishes which mum didn;t cook for the family yesterday and since its my off day today, I decided to cook for tonite's dinner!
Ingredients; 2 medium egg Stock 1-2 drops oil Spring onions, chopped
Gravy; 1/2 block silken tofu, diced Carrot slices Dried mushroom, soaked and shred Lean meat strips Chopped celery Pinch of salt Oyster sauce Stock / water Cornstarch water 1 glove garlic, minced
Method; -Fry garlic till fragrant, stir in carrots and mushrooms. -Fry for a min b4 adding in lean meat. -Pour in stock and seasoning. -Add tofu and bring to boil, thicken with cornstarch water. -Set gravy aside and prepare egg by beating the 2 eggs with stock and oil. -Steam over low heat till cooked. -Pour tofu gravy over, sprinkle with chopped spring onions and serve. -Enjoy!
I've been super bz for the past week, under going training and handle different biz which my company is involved in. I worked for about 13 hrs yesterday and onli came home this morning at about 5 am. Hence, was granted an off day today and best thing is that this day off wasn't deducted from my annual leave! :-P It was way past lunch time when I realized that I'm hungry, hence prepared a light lunch for myself.
-Bring stock to boil, add some mushroom balls, seafood sticks and hotdogs. -Add tofu and simmer. -Place lettuce in a serving boil, pour hot tofu soup over. -Sprinkle with fried shallots and serve. -Enjoy!
I had an early dinner and after some shopping with Tab, we were feeling hungry again. We have craving for prata and decided to drop by Jalan Kaya for the famous roti prata.
The place is packed with people despite the late hours. Seems like it's reali Singaporean's habit to eat suppers.
Here's the namecard with....
The menu behind.
Our teh halia
& crispy kosong prata. Overall verdict: standard dropped and the food is getting more and more expensive.
