Summer juz got back from her holiday trip with her family from Taiwan. It was reali sweet of her to buy gifts for all the collougues in office & the sweetest thing is that she actually took effort & choose different gifts for different colleague. Wow... i guess she spent time choosing gifts rather than enjoying her holiday ba. Reali appreciate her thoughtfullness.

Met up with Tab for dinner on Friday. Having no idea of where to go for dinner, she drove in to JB. We heard from Aunt Rosa that there's a cafe which serve delicious oreo cheesecake, thus decided to drop by.
Cheelicious, somewhere near pelangi shopping center.
Nice decorations!
Mocha ice blended & Cappucino ice blended.
Wild mushroom soup
Chicken & ham carbonara.
Fries with dips.
Oreo cheesecake, black & white cheesecake

Oreo cheesecake
Cheap & good, service is great as well. Oreo cheesecake is on the house!
I still can recall the 1st time i ate this dish was when i was in primary 3. Wow... time flies & how come my memory is so good? Well, cuz that was the 1st time ever in my life i had to eat take away dinner from a coffeeshop. All the while mum would prepare dinner & wait for us to come back home for dinner, however during those period, mum was at the hospital as she gave birth to Adam. Actually during the times when mum was not at home, i learnt lots of things. Being the onli gal in the family, i've to take care of Dad & Jesper, all the household chores etc... hey, tt's a great learning experience for me. For the 1st 2 days i would buy take away for dinner & after mum was discharged from hospital, i took care of her confinement diet & that was when i began the cooking journey of my life.
Oops... better come back to topic. During the time of buying dinner, i was delighted to see so many dishes right in front of my eyes & Jesper loves the potato stew which was y it created a deep impression in me.
Ingredients; 2 medium potatoes, sliced 1 garlic, chopped 1 large onion, wedged Black fungus, shred Some button mushrooms, sliced 1/2 carrot, sliced 1 stalk scallion, cut into 3 cm length Oyster sauce Dark soy sauce Salt Sugar Stock
Method; -Shallow fry potato slices till cooked, drained. -Fry garlic till fragrant, add carrots and fry for a min. -Stir in black fungus, button mushrooms & onion. -Pour in stock, seasoning & potatoes. -Boil till gravy thicken, toss in scallion & serve. -Enjoy!
A very hawker style dish, commonly found at a economic rice stall.
I once heard from a HongKong lady that it is a very shiok feeling to drink plum tea on a hot day. She used to cook it every summer when she was in HongKong. Come to think of it, since weather these days are super hot, i decided to cook plum tea & let it cool.
Roasted pork + Egg noodles = Perfect!!! Yes, it's been proven in my family and the egg noodles isn't the normal yellow noodle which we always eat from the hawker center. So far i've yet to come across any hawker selling this kind of thick egg noodles. We normally buy the noodle from market & cook on our own. Oh well, it is my grandma's favourite noodle. In fact i was being 1st introduced to this egg noodle b4 those mee kia or yellow noodle when i was a child.
Ingredients; 1 bunch egg noodles Some roasted pork Some black fungus, shredded Some toasted dried shrimps 1 egg Shallots' oil Stock Sweet dark sauce Thick dark soy sauce
Garnish: Chopped cilantro & scallion Homemade sambal chili paste Few drops black vinegar Fried shallots
Method; -Boil dried shrimps in stock, add noodles. -Stir in roasted pork & black fungus. -Once noodles in almost, add in some soy sauce as colouring to the dish. -Break an egg, give it a quick stir & off heat. -Serve with garnish, enjoy!
The soup is shiok! Spicy & sour with a roasted meat fragrant, serve with the egg noodles. Yummy~licious!
A famous local dish which makes every Singaporean increase heartbeat. Well, Singapore is known for being a food city. Other than Durians, Singapore Chili Crabs is 1 which has a WOW effect. And i make every of our family members has a WOW effect for dinner.
Ingredients; 3 medium crabs 4 shallots, chopped 1 garlic, chopped 2 chili padi, chopped 2 slices ginger 2 tbsp homemade chili paste 1 tsp chili paste Some tomato ketchup Sugar Pinch of salt 3 eggs, beaten Oil for frying
Method, -Fry shallots till fragrant, add chili & garlic continue to fry for 5 mins b4 adding in chili paste. -Toss in crabs & ginger, fry till seafood almost cook. -Add homemade chili paste, salt, sugar & ketchup. -When mixture is watery, add in beaten eggs & toss well. -Sprinkle cilantro or scallions over. -Serve with fried/baked mantou. -Enjoy!
An easy to prepare 1 pot dish which is great to be served with plain porridge. I would think it suits the meal menu of a sickly who is recuperating. Slightly salty & sweet to match plain porridge, well cuz Adam's been sick these 2 days due to poor digestive system. He dreads plain porridge, therefore tis dish would be juz nice.
Ingredients; 1 bunch tau kee, break into small pieces Some canned peanuts Some pork belly 1 small piece rock sugar 1 star anise 1/2 cinnamon stick 1 1/2 tbsp thick dark soy sauce 1/2 tbsp oyster sauce Some stock
Method; -Soak tau kee in water for an hour. -Blanched pork belly in hot water, drained. -Prepare gravy by boiling stock, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce, cinnamon stick, star anise together. -Add tau kee & pork belly, boil till soft -Add peanuts & rock sugar, cover & let simmer over low heat. -When gravy thicken, serve the dish with chopped scallions. -Enjoy!
If the sauce is thicker & darker, i would love it with plain rice & steamed vegetables.
Who says hotdogs can onli be served in American style? Well, even though they are commonly serve with American breakfast, rolls, pizza etc.... I gave it a twist & present a different feel for dinner last evening. Ingredients; 2 hotdogs/chicken franks 1 medium potato, diced 1 stalk scallion, chopped Some roasted sesame seeds
Sauce; 1 tsp plum sauce 1/2 tsp tomato ketchup 1 tsp vinegar Some sugar 1/2 tsp homemade chili sambal
Method; -Slice chicken franks thinly & shallow fry in hot oil till cook. Drained & place on serving dish. -Shallow fry the potatoes till golden brown. Drained & set aside. -Bring sauce to boil, add in potatoes & mix well. -Drizzle mixture over chicken franks, sprinkle chopped scallion & sesame seeds over. -Enjoy! Hotdogs can be served in an oriental style. Enjoy ba!
Was on my way home after i knock off the other, decided to drop by cold storage to enjoy the cool aircon b4 walking home. Happened to come across a guy promoting a new kit, thus decided to buy 1. My new toy is cool! Prepared a simple American breakfast for a lazy Sunday morning. haha... Breakfast consisting of my favourite scrambled eggs with baked beans, chicken frank, bacon & lettuce, cheezy bacon mantou sandwich.
My new toy, a chopper/dicer!
With this kit around, i dun have to shed tears for chopping shallots again. Yeah!
Mid authum is oso known as Mooncake festival, therefore a muz to have will be mooncakes & pomelos. Other neccessarities will be steamed mini yams, ling jiao & lanterns etc... oh wat am i short of? Lanterns! gosh... seems like i've already passed the age of carrying lanterns around! :-P
I got the inspiration of tis yummy dish from korean food bibimbap. Went for korean food with my colleagues the other day during lunch & i fell in love with the spicy chicken. It's actually quite easy to prepare, juz need to stir fry meat with a speciality saucev & the final result will resemble those hotplate meat but with less gravy. Thus, i decided to give it a try by creating my own version & if it turn out well, probably next weekend i can cook my own bibimbap. The taste of the dish gave me a "WOW" effect.
Ingredients; 200g lean meat, thinly sliced 1/8 tsp baking soda 1 tsp cornflour 2 clove garlic, minced Some shredded spring onions for garnishing Some roasted white sesame seeds Oil for frying
Sauce; 1 tsp hoisin sauce 1 tsp oyster sauce 3/4 tsp dark soy sauce 1-2 drops sweet sauce Pinch of salt 3/4 tsp homemade chili paste
Method; -Marinate meat slices with baking soda, set aside for 30mins. -Toss in cornflour 10mins b4 cooking. -Heat some oil in a wok, fry farlic till lightly browned. -Stir in meat slices until change colour. -Stir in sauce & fry till meat cook & sauce dries up. -Sprinkle sesame seeds & green onion over. -Enjoy!
I am so honored to be chosen as the organizer for our annual company incentive trip. I'm so excited when management told me that they need my help to plan and execute the event. Our staffs were to vote between 2 destination-cruise trip or kukup trip. In the end, onli Renee and I prefer kukup while the rest voted for cruise trip.
Well, it's ok for me so long as there's a location for me to carry out my event. It took me 2 mks b4 to start planning for games, buying gifts etc... The day has finally arrived!
Taking a group photo b4 we leave.
My pass. So excited!
Finally we are on board.
Being allocated to a room for triplets. Kristine can't wait to pose for a pic.
Time for lunch! Simple "chok" with no ingredients inside, onli serve with condiments.
Laksa.....
Mixed vegetable rice...
Free & Easy time after lunch and we passed by a vendor selling ranges of ice-cream.
I had a rum & raisin. Hmm.... the best rum & raisin ice-cream i ever had.
No program for the rest of us as we dun gamble and Kristine decided to go for a haircut.
Finally, it's time for games.
Eileen laughing so happily. We had so much fun!
Forfeit for those who lost.
Picaso game. Seems like all can't draw well. Oh, i'm still in search for Picaso! haiz.. definately not among all these people! haha....
Another round of forfeit for losers!
So hungry after all the activities, supper time!
After supper, time for prize giving ceremony.
Lucky winners for those who won the games earlier on.
And they as well.
Hmm... i always tot onli organizer can have to chance to plan games and forfeit and i love watching losers doing forfeit. However, i'm so surprise that the management actually plan a game between me and Kristine and we have to compete. Lucky i'm the winner, saves me from doing any forfeit. haha.... Say cheese with our prizes.
1st prize winner goes to Valerie.
Another group picture.
Time for karaoke... Jenny and Irene bz choosing songs.
Drinks for our chill out.
Cheers!
Cheers....
Beer and Snowball
I ordered a Singapore Sling but turns out to taste like Island Tea.
Spicy fishballs to go with the drink.
This is where we had our chill out last nite and...
I was late in watching sunrise!
Nice shot! Oh well should be nice angle instead otherwise i will mislead u readers that i'm actually playing golf at the mini golf course.
Quick and simple breakfast b4 we leave the cruise.
Many of the colleagues were crazy over these Spongebob wafer rolls. Come on, let me take a pic! So much fun for us and finally we are back in Singapore. There's a part II at nite, a BBQ party.Special thanks to our company management for the wonderful trip, last but not least, thank everyone for making the trip a success.
